Dissemination and impact

Disseminating and communicating your research to diverse audiences, including engaging with policymakers, can help to maximise the real-world impact of your work.

Whether you’re an academic or policy researcher using longitudinal population studies, the guidance, resources and case studies available here will help.

Dissemination: this refers to activities that go beyond the publication of your research to broaden the reach of your findings and apply what you have discovered to real-life fields of policy and practice.

Impact: this can result from dissemination, which is defined by the ESRC as “the demonstrable contribution that excellent research makes to society and the economy.”

Impact can take many forms and may take place at various stages in the research lifecycle. Explore the resources using the navigation links on this page.
