Select Committees

Select committees are permanent and exist to scrutinise government policy development and delivery in greater detail than general Parliamentary debates.

They are often aligned with a government department. For example, the Health and Social Care Committee examines policy issues that fall under the remit of the Department for Health and Social Care.
