Royal Assent

Once a bill has completed scrutiny in both houses of Parliament, it is ready to receive Royal Assent. This is when the monarch formally agrees to make the bill into an act of parliament and is a ceremonial process in modern times.

That being said, the term ‘Royal Assent’ is still used to refer to the point at which a bill completes its passage through Parliament.
